Bible Teachers

St Andrew's Cathedral and more particularly the Healing Ministry is particularly blessed by a number of fine Bible teachers. Our leader (Christopher Allan) is the regular preacher, but through the year a number of the Cathedral staff also share in the teaching.

Rev. Canon Christopher Allan

Christopher Allan is the leader of the Healing Ministry at both St Andrew's Cathedral and at Golden Grove.

Christopher is married to Sandra and they have three children. Before entering full time ministry, he worked in project management for Lend Lease as a project engineer.

He completed his theological studies at Moore Theological College attaining a Bachelor of Divintiy. Before returning to the Cathedral (where he'd been as a Student Minister while studying at Moore College) he was one of the Assistant Ministers at Rooty Hill Anglican working under The Rev. Ray Galea.

Christopher enjoys reading history, relaxing watching television and all sport – particularly finding time to get onto the golf course. He particularly loves cooking on one of his BBQ's (a real BBQ with smoke, charcoal, wood and lots of hours slow cooking!).

Regular preachers:

THE VERY REV. KANISHKA RAFFEL (DEAN OF SYDNEY)

Kanishka was born in London to Sri Lankan parents and was raised as a Buddhist.

While studying law at Sydney University a friend gave him a copy of The Gospel according to John and he subsequently became a Christian. Prior to becoming Dean in 2016, Kanishka served as Rector of St Matthew’s in Perth.

He is married to Cailey and they have two daughters. He loves curry, cricket and having gelato at the beach with his family but knows no pleasure so great as sharing the news about Jesus with people who have no idea who Jesus is or how much he loves them.

REV. TOM HALL

Tom is married to Clare, and before joining the staff at the Cathedral, he spent 25 years in inner city ministry.

Tom taught Mathematics, and following studies at Moore Theological College was Ordained in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.  Apart from preaching responsibilities at the Cathedral and oversight of the Subcontinental Fellowship, he spends much of his time in Asia, India, Europe and the United Kingdom preaching and conducting seminars on systematic teaching of the Bible.
